Your task over the next three weeks is to interview three people about their responses to natural disasters.
The people could have lived through one, witnessed one, helped in the recovery of one, seen one on television, in fact they could have almost any link that you can think of. Please discuss this with the teacher if you are unsure of the link they have and they will help you.
You might want to follow this timeline...
Week 3 - Prepare your interview questions. Think about who you want to interview (ask parents or relatives if they know of anyone). Think about the types of questions you will need to ask them. Be sensitive, especially if they were directly impacted by the natural disaster).
Complete rubric.
Week 4 - Begin your interviews. They can be done in a podcast or you can take notes.
Week 5 - Think of the best way to present your findings. You have the freedom to choose here. Consider the following...
Who is your audience?
What information do you need to communicate? (ie. if you have pictures you wouldn't just do a podcast)
Where do your strengths lie?
How much time do you have?
So you could do a podcast, movie, news report, keynote, poster, information report, television program, the limits are endless. Just remember that whatever you choose to do the teachers will be looking for the content, stories and information you have included.
